With the ocean, we come home.
Meet Lindsay
Lindsay Gordon is a marine conservationist and ocean impact specialist who has spent her career listening to, learning from, and working alongside ocean communities around the world. As Head of Global Programs for Parley for the Oceans, she worked across 30 countries and with organizations including the United Nations to develop locally-led, globally-supported solutions to plastic pollution, environmental justice, and ocean literacy. From the Galápagos to Hawaii to the Maldives, her work centers a simple belief: that lasting change for the ocean begins with the people who depend on it most.
Lindsay is published in Marine Policy's co-authored paper "Why People Matter in Ocean Governance" — the result of collaboration with 125 experts from 17 countries to understand how marine protection policies can honor local traditions, practices, and economic realities. She has been featured on podcasts including "Rising Tide," "Voices of Nature," and "Beyond the Bluff," speaking on topics from the plastics crisis to deep sea mining.
At the heart of her work is a conviction that the challenges facing our oceans can only be solved through creative collaboration and genuine listening — elevating the voices of coastal and island communities who know the sea most intimately. She also educates on eco-grief, eco-anxiety, and the deep connectivity between humans and the natural world.
Lindsay holds a Master's from the University of Washington's School of Marine and Environmental Affairs, where her thesis — "Human Dimensions of Large-Scale Marine Protected Areas: Best Management Practices Guidebook" — explored community-centered approaches to ocean governance. She also holds a Bachelor's from the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine Science, a Center for Council certification, and training from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Community, Liberation, Indigenous, and Ecopsychology
Lindsay now works as Impact Producer on internationally recognized award-winning documentary film, Oceania: Journey to the Center, to birth impact through education, direct action, and creative immersive experiences and partnerships. Lindsay also regularly facilitates workshops, gives talks, and collaborates with individuals, organizations and companies in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond..
